Undocumented Illinois residents will soon be given documents, despite illegal entry
Leave it to politicians like Gov. J.B. Pritzker to come up with an awkward policy to give undocumented residents (illegals) documentation, including special drivers licenses beginning July 1

Beginning on July 1, 2024, “undocumented” residents living in Illinois will be able to get driver’s licenses, which by the way is a “document.”
Gov. J.B. Pritzker says that the new legislation will help “decrease stigmas” and it will “increase safety” on roadways.
Additionally, undocumented residents will not be able to get auto insurance, just in case they get an accident.
I wonder though, will they be required to study the Rules of the Road and then be given a test? Or, can they simply take their undocumented licenses fromt heir original countries and use that to get a license?
Of course, maybe Pritzker will have the state publish a new version of “Rules of the Road” in the undocumented resident’s language, since not all of them are required to speak English or even appreciate English at all. What do you do when you pull up to a road sign that says “Alto?” That might be one of the questions, although I haven’t seen any red “Alto” signs posted at intersections yet. Maybe they will start posting translated Stop Signs, and street signs and directional signs, to make it easier for undocumented residents to pass the “Rules of the Road” test.
Pritzker can push through a couple billion dollars to his political pals to get those signs manufactured.
According to the law, undocumented residents in illinois can apply for a driver’s license by passing a driving test. What language will it be in? They must have valid vehicle insurance. From where?
Here’s the real kicker: the must be able to present “identification documents” for purposes of obtaining the license. They didn’t present any identification documents when they came into this country, but Pritzker thinks that they must have them and will need to show them. Chances are those documents will be fradulent.
How does an undocumented resident get “documentation” to prove who they are?
And, an undocumented resident must be able to prove that they have a managed to be in Illinois for at least one year “as a resident.”
No criminal check, of course, because no documents will be found on criminal behavior.
Most likely, the undocumented won’t have to take the “Rules of the Road” test. Just apply and get a drivers license.
Some might think I don’t like immigrants. That’s not true. I love immigrants. My mother and father were immigrants. They were through a documented process of vetting when they came here, learned about American and then took a Constitutional test before they received their citizenship.
Citizenship meant something back then. And I am concerned that citizenship doesn’t mean anything today. It’s not citizenship that’s important any more. It is the state of being here, no matter how you got here.
What does “undocumented” mean? It means that someone entered the country illegally without being fully vetted by border security. They make their way through the country avoiding law enforcement, but if they get in any criminal trouble — intentionally or by accident — they simply disappear. The victims of these “accidents and crimes” end up shouldering the financial and physical consequences of these incidents that should be crimes.
I know why Pritzker wants to push ahead to make “undocumented” acceptable. He wants more people in Illinois.
People who are legal citizens are fleeing Illinois. Pritzker was on TV recently scolding the U.S. Census and arguing that the Census data is wrong. The Census is wrong? Wrong because it doesn’t include undocumented residents in its count, because they have no documents.
Thanks to Pritzker and the state legislature, the undocumented wll be given documents.
Now that Pritzker wants to make it easier for undocumented to get a license to drive a car, that they might not be able to buy because auto dealerships require some documentation to cover things like costs, for example. Maybe Pritzker wants to go one step further and help the undocumented with travel.
Right now when you travel through the airport, you ca purchase TSA Clearance, which requires alot of documentation and identity verification. Of course, that’s for citizens who are forced to be vetted, not the undocumented who simply cross borders illegally to move around, back and forth from one country to another.
And, we now also have Clear which makes the processing of passengers through airport security even easier.
The next thing you know is that Pritzker, wanting to do everything to help undocumented except to become legally vetted citizens, will suggest that the airports create a category for the undocumented travelers. Make it easy to get on airplanes with your undocumented drivers license.
Of course, maybe they can just create a new airport entrance, cutting an opening through a chain link fence.
I am not against immigrants coming into this country. I am against them doing it illegally.
It puts every American in jeopardy. If someone commits a crime who is undocumented, do you think they will show their new driver’s license as an identifier, or simply run and hide and avoid accountability or responsibility.
What we really need to do is make every undocumented residents leave the country and enter legally. Thousands of foreigners immigrate to this country legally without sneaking in, crossing the border at night, and finding places to hide until their presence becomes a fact of life.
We need to enforce our immigration rules. If they are not applied to undocumented residents who come to America from other countries, why should they be enforced on anyone.
Why should I have to present a passport when I come back to America through O’Hare Airport or Midway Airport? Why is it that I can be arrested if I try to sneak into another country, to go on vacation without being vetted?
Documentation for the undocumented. It sounds like a plitical scheme to me to bolster voting for some politicians who just really don’t care about the integrity of being a legal, documented and dedicated American.
Being American means a lot to me, which is why I served in the U.S. Military when I was called up during the Vietnam War.
What does it mean to someone who can skirt the system and cut in front of the line and doesn’t have to do what every other immigrants has done that has gone through the system legally and paid their dues to become an American?
It will mean nothing to them.
I got pulled over not too long ago for having a burned-out headlight in Brookfield. When the officer asked me for my insurance card, I went to the glove box to retrieve it and when I gave it to him, he said that it was expired. I was driving my father's car at the time I was pulled over. I received 2 tickets, one for the headlight, and one for no proof of insurance. I went to court today and they dismissed both tickets, because the car was insured the whole time. If it is a law in IL, wouldn't the illegal immigrants have to get it as well? This doesn't make any sense at all to me. I believe that they are doing this so they can let them vote in the election in November.
