Insurrection and Assassination: Political hypocrisy on both sides
The Left is trying to prosecute former President Donald Trump for words they assert fueled the Jan. 6 "insurrection". Will they apply same principle for words which fueled "assassination" attempt?

There is a hypocrisy in this country where the media embraces assertions of an insurrection that result in legal action from the Justice Department against former President Donald Trump.
And yet they are defending President Joe Biden who urged donors at a fundraiser that “it’s time to put Trump in a bulls eye,” legislation by Mississippi Democrat Congressman Bennie Thompson to strip Trump of US Secret Service protection, and Lincoln Project Democrat cofounder Rick Wilson who on MSNBC in 2023 said, "They're still going to have to go out and put a bullet in Donald Trump."
If you can argue Trump encouraged the violent “insurrection” there is certanly more tha enough to argue that Biden and Democrats have also created an atmosphere of hate and whose rhetoric incited the alleged shooter to assassinate Trump on Saturday, July 13, 2024 during a campaign appearance at Butler, Pennsylvania.
Will the Justice Department proceed with charges against Democrats whose words may have encouraged the alleged shooter, ANTIFA activist Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20 who was identified quickly by the media as allegedly being a “registered Republican” even though he had not voted yet but had donated to ActBlue, a Democrat fund?
Biden: “it’s time to put Trump in a bulls eye,”
When January 6, 2021 took place and nearly 1,000 of more than 30,000 protestors stormed their way into the Capital building, Democrats targeted then President Donald Trump for fueling the violence and called it an '“insurrection.”
Trump made a speech that encouraged his supporters to protest the election result — a legally defensible action under the U.S. Constitution. But was the violence that took place an "insurrection" or merely the result of America's polarized anger that boiled over among some of the protestors that is now being exploited by Trump foes like Democrat Biden and Republican Liz Cheney?
Democrats can’t find one sentence in which Trump yrged his followers to engage in violence and to “attack” police officers or staff during the protest. But look at Trump’s so-called “insurrection” speech:
"we're going to walk down to the Capitol, and we're going to cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women, and we're probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them.
"Because you'll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength and you have to be strong. We have come to demand that Congress do the right thing and only count the electors who have been lawfully slated, lawfully slated.
"I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard."

Trump and his supporters had every right to declare that the election had been stolen. They had every right to question the vote results, especially in states controlled by Democrats.
I don't believe the election was stolen but that really isn’t the issue. The issue is how easily the Biden Justice Department took political rhetoric and turned it into evidence of an “insurrection.”
WIll the Biden Justice Department now hold themselves to the same standard and use the incendiary political rhetoric of Biden, Wilson and many other Democrats that demonized Trump and crossed the line in orging how their supporters must react to stop him?
Don’t hold your breath. Although if Trump is elected as is likely. especially now int he wake of this attempted killing, he might open an investigation into those who provoked Crooks to commit his violent deed.
Of course I'm not "cheering the shooter!" Where'd that stupid statement come from?! And, yes, Democrats targeted then President Donald Trump for fueling the violence that was an '“insurrection.” As many Republicans and Independents tageted then President Donald Trump as well. Give me a break!
Trump did make a speech that encouraged his supporters to protest the election result, which was wrong, as the Courts had already thrown out just about every challenge, sans one! We all know, and you do as well, that "the violence that took place" was an "insurrection." It was not "merely the result of America's polarized anger that boiled over among some of the protestors that is now being exploited by Trump foes like Democrat Biden and Republican Liz Cheney?" What rights do we have to take our anger out on innocent people? Yes, the workers at the Capitol that were harmed and killed were innocent!
Trump and his supporters had absolutely no right to declare that the election had been stolen, as they had not proven it in the Courts. This was January, Man. It was time to certify the election. Any anger by supporters should have ended by the certification date. You, and everyone else in this country knew that the election was over for Trump. There should have been no one at the Capitol but both chambers of Congress
and perhaps others only interested to see democracy at work. You talk just as crazy, and then say that "(you) don't believe the election was stolen but that really isn’t the issue. I say it is. It was not the "political rhetoric" turned it into evidence of an “insurrection.” It was an insurrection!
Trump isn't likely to be reelected, so, I have no worries or concerns about his opening any investigations. The American people are not stupid - at least not the majority. We don't want a king, other than King Jesus! My response to your ridiculous statements is what I meant by is "That all you got?" You have nothing! And, your response to me - since you didn't understand my response - proves that you really don't get it! I've been reading your columns since your Daily Southtown days, and found you again writing for the Regional when I moved to the South Suburbs. That's more than forty-five years. You used to be sensible. What the heck has happened to you?! So, do understand that at our ages we need to speak like we understand all sides of the political spectrum. I see now that you no longer do. You’ve lost your objectivity, and your grasp of discernment. Even more so, you don't know how to read and understand responses to your columns, so, you take offense because you misinterpreted what I said? And, foolishly attack me - one of your readers, with such a dumbfounded accusation. "Cheering the shooter?!" Who the hell cheers a freaking murderer?
"One of the crazies out there? Not happy with politics, claims to support both sides? If you don't like it don't come back ... go stew in your own cesspool and argue with yourself ...?" A perfect description of who you are, as that is what you should be saying to yourself!
Am I "cheering the shooter?" What an ignorant statement to make! I can't get over your making that idiotic assertion. Though I believe you only made it out of misinterpreted, misplaced, and of course, ignorance. When you don't understand what a reader is saying, try asking for an understanding or at least ask for clarification. Am I "cheering the shooter?" What a stupid thing to say to anyone!
Really Ray?! That's all you got?!
