The 31 counties comprise about 6.3% of Illinois’ population. A total of about 789,000 people. I would guess the farmers should be able to get by on the millions of dollars they get in subsidies. The rest can leave at any time. I’m sure the Democrats in Texas feel the same way about representation.

My guess is there's a lot more than 789,000 Democrats in Texas, too.

IN sales tax (non deductible) is 7.%, Illinois is 6%. Property taxes vary by city/township/school district /county are quite different across both states. Comparing between the two states regarding property taxes is difficult because of this.

Regarding Income Taxes (State levied & deductible)

1) Illinois has deductions for head of household and for every child. Indiana doesn’t a d has limited deductions when calculating Income Tax.

2) every Indiana County also levies an Income Tax which also varies widely. There are counties with Income Taxes nearing 3%. There are few deductions available for the County Income Taxes.

3) Illinois doesn’t Tax Soc Sec/Pensions/IRA’s or 401K’s. Unlike Soc Sec, constituents can start withdrawing from IRA’s/401K’s in the year which they turn 59 1/2.

Indiana doesn’t Tax Soc Sec nor Pensions but does Tax 401K’s & IRA’s, dont have confirmation on this but likely as Ordinary Income. Same with the County Income Tax.

4) The 🇺🇸 House Recently passed the Budget Bill 💵 that includes a large increase in the Amount of State & Local Deductible Taxes from $10K to $40K. The GQP needed House member votes from Cali/NJ/NY to get the Bill passed. Don’t like Thebill because of The Medicaid cuts but increasing the state/locsl tax deductibility helps states that provide more services or charge lower feesz

5) the 31 Illinois counties that Indians is targeting receiving between $2 and $3 in State Aid from Illinois. If those counties move states, they will either need to raise their local taxes to make up for the revenue shortfall or Indiana will somehow have to provide them the revenue to make up the shortfall , which could mean a tax increase for Indiana. The 31 Illinois counties have 14 community colleges plus 2 state universities (have about 1M people), Indiana as a whole has 14 junior colleges & state universities for 6.5 M people. Indiana will have a tough time raising taxes to provide more revenue further new counties because of the recently passed 🇺🇸 House budget bill which includes Massive cuts to Medicaid, which is a huge $ provider for small town & rural hospitals which Indiana has a lot of and will have even more if you add 31 largely rural Illinois counties.

If those 31 counties leave Illinois, my state taxes should drop. Take them.

Or better yet, let’s trade counties. Knowing people from my work who live in NW Indiana & Ft Wayne, they feel as though the rest of the state thinks they’re crooked & too big city for the rest of Indiana. Heck thousands of them work in Illinois already & pay State of Illinois Income Tax.

Be happy to get Lake/Porter/LaPorte/St Joe/Allen/Plymouth/Kosciusko/Noble/Stuben/DeKalb/Noble/Whitley/Marshall/Elkhart & Whitley for the 31 Illinois Counties that Indiana wants or want to transfer to Indiana.

Those counties are higher Property Tax counties that likely want more services than they’re already getting along with being able to buy Liquor 🥃 on Sundays ( higher % of Roman Catholics in those Counties) and buy Medicinal Marijuana to treat their health conditions and generate tax money 💰 for their cities & states.

What say you?

As a resident of Illinois (Rock Island County), I'd welcome kicking out the MAGAt traitors masquerading as Republicans. An easier solution is that they move to Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, or Wisconsin. The sooner the better. None will be missed.

Those 31 counties are getting 2X to 3X the amount of Illinois state Aid than what they currently pay in Illinois State Taxes. They leave & our State Taxes should drop.

In those 31 counties are 2 State Universities (SIU & SIU Edwardsville) plus 14 of the states 45 community colleges. Those counties will have to increase their local taxes because Indiana has just 1 Community/Junior College for their entire state (Vincennes) and won’t be giving them any state aid for their Community Colleges. Or their community colleges will close 🤣 😆!

Further the recently passed by 1 vote 🇺🇸 House Budget bill includes many changes affecting not just taxes but the services that villages/schools/school districts/cities/counties/hospitals.

1) the State & Local Tax Deduction has been increased from $10K annually to $40K. That helps states/cities/counties/school districts/townships which provide more services. The GQP leadership needed votes from NY/NJ/Cali to get it passed. That’s going to pi$$ off a lot of a lot of Red state voters, but guess what agent orange boot 🥾 lickers, you get the govt you voted for

2) to pay 💰 for the tax cuts for millionaire/billionaires , Massive Cuts to Medicaid spending. This will adversely affect states that rely on Medicaid to pay for

healthcare for poor people/young people/ rural-small town people and People of Color.

Magat/Red/GQP states rely disproportionately on Medicaid.

Illinois funds its hospitals well which is why none have closed recently since Pritzker has been Governor. Magat states like Indiana/Misery/Kintucky/Arky/Okie/West Virginny etc will see many of they’re rural/small Town hospitals close and doctors leave their states. Again, you get the govt & services you voted for.

If those 31 Counties move to Indiana, they’ll definitely get Less Hospital/Medical Care funding. Their local Rural Hospitals will close. Again, you get the govt & services that you choose or vote for.

Better yet, all you Magats can vote to a state that matches your values where the healthcare & hospitals you’ll be able to access will be fewer and substantially poorer. Why, because Magat/red states rely heavily on Medicaid to fund hospitals & pay Medical Care for Children.

With the recent 🇺🇸 Budget bill 💵 that’s passed the House by 1 vote; to pay 💰 for huge tax cuts for mill/billionaires, huge cuts are being made to Medicaid which will adversely effect red/Magat/cult 47 states. Suck it poor & poorly educated Magats. Should the 31 counties in question vote to leave Illinois that rely not only on a lot of State Aid but Medicaid to keep their rural hospitals, enjoy poorer healthcare services and far less govt services.

The increase in the Local & State Income Tax deduction from $10K to $40K would have benefited me when I was working & earning state taxable income, I don’t want a deduction increase to $40K because I know how higher Medicaid cuts will be & how they will affect people. I have empathy because I’m a Democrat , Magat/cult 47 ers lack that

America tried secession before. It's a fast and easy route to violence in the name of various purity tests. That was the result last time. I don't see Indiana achieving anything practical with this other than to press people's buttons, stir the pot, whatever metaphor you prefer.

More practical is something you brought up - Illinois' flat tax. Illinois is a shining example of why flat taxes doesn't work. Guys like Rauner and Pritzker don't make most of their money at a job, so a flat tax is fine with them. It's entirely different for people like you and me. But most people don't understand why it's unfair to us, which is why Pritzker lost his bid to change the flat tax.

The 31 counties in question receive State Aid at a factor of 2X to 3X the amount of tax revenue they pay to the state of Illinois. Those counties have 2 state universities plus 14 community colleges.

When They leave these counties will either have to raise there taxes substantially to make up for the massive revenue shortfall or the rest of Indiana will have to generate more tax revenue for these counties.

Indiana as senior has 14 state colleges & universities for 6.5M people. Those 31 IL counties have a population about 1M.

If they leave Illinois, my Income & property taxes should reduce. In addition to a state income tax & a 7% Starr saves tax (one if tge highest in 🇺🇸) Indiana Coubtues Also levy a County Income Tax averaging 2.2%. Like the IN Income Tax, there are few exemptions available the taxpayers unlike Illinois which has a head of household plus personal exemption fir each family member. Illinois doesn’t levy a County Income Tax.

Finally the recently passed budget bill that passed the 🇺🇸 House includes a large increase in the State & Local Tax Exemption, from the current $10K to $40K. The GQP house needed Republican votes from NJ, NY,Cal, IL etc to get the bill passed. This benefits Illinos greatly while hurting lower income states like Indiana Misery & Kintucky who rely heavily on Medicaid to fund & Keep there hospitals & health centers open . Lots of those will be closing in rural Indiana

What Indiana residence should know about the 31 counties in question is they currently receive far more in Illinois State Funding than they pay back to Springfield in Taxes.per the September 2022 edition of FarmWeekNow.com includes a map showing by region of Illinois how much that region receives in State Aid per $1 of tax Revenue they remit to Springfield. The Far Southern region that consists of 19 largely rural counties receives $2.88 in State Aid per $1 in revenue they remit.

If they change states, those counties will either have to raise taxes dramatically or the rest of Indiana will be paying out big fir the schools , roads, infrastructure, state parks & rec areas plus the State Dept university and 10 community colleges in those counties.

Illinois has 45 Community Colkeges and 12 state universities=57. Indiana has just 14 colleges & state universities.

If those counties leave Illinois, my income tax/sakes tax will drop. Regarding Sales Tax, Indiana’s is 7% while Illinois is 6%. Yes certain Illini’s counties have additional county taxes but that’s largely Cook.

Neither Ilinois nor Indiana levy an income tax on Soc Sec however Illinois also doesn’t levy a state income tax on IRA’s, 401K’s nor pensions, thee can be withdrawn from as early as age 59 1/2. Indiana Levies both State & County Income Taxes on 401K’s IRA’s & Pensions. Indiana also has few deductions available on State & County Income Tax Levies.

Indiana Counties levy an average income tax of 2.2% in addition to property taxes, state income taxes & a 7% sales tax.

Finally the recently passed by the 🇺🇸 House. Budget bill includes an increase in the state & local tax deduction from $10K to $40K. That will benefit Illinois greatly.
