NABJ need a question … are you bettter off and is the country better off today right now than day one of this administration? Do you want four more years ? Then go to your grocery stores and gas stations and start figuring it out
Trump actually did well, but it only made the journalists and the NABJ look horrible ... so unprofessional ... its hows you how difficult it is to get the truth out of journalists, who complain that politicians they dislike are not truthful ... so ironic
The question by NABJ was very hard-hitting, but legitimate & relevant to concerns their followers have, & it is good that at least someone is asking Trump tough questions. Trump responded as he knows how best, with a counterattack to blast the question as rude, then making a case for himself that defied the premise of the question. How truthful it was I don't know, but he managed to turn around a potentially damaging question in the direction he wanted it to go, a skill few can do as well as he. [Pete Buttigieg is really good at turning tough questions from hostile parties in his favor, too.] The questioner should've been prepared with a followup question to such a Trump response, which should've been predictable, by reiterating & elaborating on her points & rebutting any assertions Trump made that were less than accurate, but apparently she had no followup. So from my limited observation, it looks like Trump won that exchange, at least by performance measures, maybe not so much on substance.
I have since seen another part of the interview during which Trump was clearly flustered & sounding nonsensical. Not a positive look at him. Apparently he didn't hold up well to the grilling he got.
He's not used to interviewers asking him tough questions. And there are far tougher questions that could & should be asked of him, such as his relationships with & admiration for tyrants, his confiscation & sharing of classified government documents, his planning, organizing & inciting the insurrection & baseless attempts to overturn the 2020 election, & how he plans to assume power again without winning the 2024 election.
I appreciate your views but I disagree ... Trump held his own and was able to convey two very important issues that have been distorted by the mainstream news media: his position on illegal aliens, which contradicts lies by the media, and his position on Abortion, which is basically the vew of Mainstream America.
On illegal aliens, he explained he is against anyone who enters America illegally, but recognizes immigrants who come in legally. That is the position held by most Americans
On Abortion, he said he supports abortion in the cases of the life of the mother/child and in cases involving rape and incest (during the first trimester). That is the position held by most Americans
