America's "Two Party System" of Republicans and Democrats is broken and needs to be changed. Arab, Muslim and other disenfranchised American voters can change it with a long range strategy of choice
I quite like the piece. But I object to putting the G-word in quote marks: "genocide."
I realize that apparently the sum of all the crimes might not formally be declared a genocide, but the quote marks read to me as doubt, as in "so-called," in the sense of what apparently goes thru the heads of all those in Congress who vote for all the weapons for Israel, Biden, et al.
A better way, in my view, would be to say something like: "Apparently unfolding genocide."
I've seen people use quotes for emphasis, but in order to have not people take them like I did as described above, I'd use italics or bold instead. Again, I like your piece aside from this "technicality." --Mark in Racine who knows Jane
"The number of people in Gaza vulnerable to death from starvation and disease from unclean water is said to be over a million." --Jill Stein campaign e-mail of Thu, Oct 31, 2024
Morally corrupt? Any one of any political or ethnic persuasion that is antisemitic, anti Zionist, anti Israeli, pro Hamas, pro Iran. How many boxes do you check? By the way, genocide? Can you spell HAMAS?
Thanks for your comments Jack ... Hamas didn't appear until 1990 after decades of brutality by Israel's government against the Palestinians not just in the occupied West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem, but also inside Israel itself against Israel Arab "citizens" ... my relatives live in Israel as citizens and they have experienced horrific discrimination and brutality and lost rights ... their lands have been taken by the goverment because they are not Jewish ... brutality does have a way of fomenting a violent resistance ... certainly I have never supported Hamas but I see no difference between Hamas and Israel's government of Benjamin Netanyahu ...
Compare the killing of 1,200 Israelis to more than 42,000 Palestinians ... and that number 42,000 is low since Israel doesn't permit objective journalists or independent journalists to cover the conflict and hs killed more than 120 independent journalists during the past year according to the Committee to Protect Journalists ... the reporting protrays Israel as the victim and downplays the carnage and genocide
I think this war and Netanyahu's fanaticism have exposed Israel to a critical backlash that will come back to haunt Israel and impact it in the future ... I hope Israelis throw off Netanyahu, Smotrich and Ben Givr and embrace moderates who believe in peace and compromise and who don't use terrorism as an excuse to take lands, expel civilians and prevent two-states

Putting quotes around it also emphasizes the word but good point on how some might take it ...
