RIGHT FROM THE MIDDLE: Polarization of America grows while challenges remain unresolved
Guest Columist: Rather than bringing America together, our leaders are fueling the polarization and divide. It's weakening our nation. We must make America the priority and come together as a nation
By William O. Lipinski
Our Land of Liberty and Fortress of Freedom is becoming more and more divided each and every day.
What is happening in this Land of the Pilgrims Pride makes me depressed, dejected, and deathly afraid that we are seeing the greatest nation in the history of the world coming apart, coming to the end.
Our Land of the Free and Home of the Brave, the greatest instrument mankind has known for spreading freedom, democracy, education, and opportunity, is destroying itself.
It seems each day a new issue surfaces that divides our great nation. Minneapolis, Minnesota, is certainly one of those issues.
There does not seem to be a desire on the part of either side to come together in a reasonable, rational, tolerant, understanding way.
The round-up and deportation of illegal aliens by the Trump administration has been done in such a clumsy, chaotic, brutal way that it has turned 80% of the American people who supported this round-up into only 40% of the American people.
The mayor of Minneapolis and the governor of Minnesota, by their inflammatory anti-federal government speeches has contributed very significantly to widening the divide in our nation.
Part of the country calls the other part of the country Nazis, Gestapo, Storm Troopers. That part of the country retaliates by calling them far-left radicals, socialists, communists, and anti-American activists.
Part of the country wants to reform, destroy, or eliminate the institutions that have held us together and created a degree of freedom that citizens of no other land have ever known.
There are those in our country who preach that right-wing extremists want to reverse the results of the Civil War, reestablish Jim Crowism, and residential segregation. There are those in our society who charge our government with being an ever-expanding empire, not a democratic republic.
They charge this nation with being RUN by a billionaire oligarchy and not by the citizens of this nation.
These same anti-American activists say we fought the First World War and the Second World War not to preserve freedom and democracy, but for economic gains for our companies and corporations.
The other half of the country is perfectly happy with the status quo and sees no reason to improve our institutions, our educational system or our economy.
And yet some of our citizens have limited participation in institutions, our excellent educational system, and our ever-expanding economy.
Some segments of our society believe it is perfectly all right to discriminate against another segment of society. with affirmative action programs, set-aside programs, and EDI.
All programs THAT FOSTER REVERSE DISCRIMINATION. The leaders of both sides like to fight culture wars, because it distracts individuals from working on solving the very difficult problems we do have: the cost of healthcare, the cost of education, the cost of buying a home, and the economic inequality that unfortunately does exist.
The difference of opinion on what to do to help 24% of the young people with college degrees who cannot find jobs. Is it because of the poor education they received?
Or because of the courses they studied, which contribute very little to their ability to find jobs, were they in college to get a solid education, or just to have fun?
Both sides should stop arguing about that. And just find a solution to the problem, for the good of the country and the individual.
Radio, talk show hosts are out to make money, and the best way to do that is to keep the divide widening. I just heard a prominent weekday talk show host make the statement that the Trump administration is out to take care of white men and white men only; they wish to subjugate or marginalize blacks, browns, women, and gays.
Unfortunately, he has a very large audience. I think that there are three principal reasons why we find ourselves in this terrible situation.
First and foremost, our nation, our society, our culture has some legitimate problems. These problems must be recognized and resolved if we are ever to truly illuminate the great divide.
Many of the issues that divide us have been created, supported, and funded by foreign governments that wish to destroy our way of life. And last by ULTRA LEFT-WING SOCIALIST anti-American university professors in our land that for decades have LECTURED about all the imperfections in America.
Thereby. Fermenting division because of their desire to destroy capitalism and institute a Marxist communist state.
You can agree with me or disagree with me, but you must agree.
We have a terrible divide in this country at the present time, and something must be done about it if we are going to survive. So please think about the problems in your country and try to do everything within your power to narrow that divide it is something that you have to dedicate yourself to work on each and every day.
Thanks for reading my column today, particularly you, Ralph O’Leary. Until next time a fellow American.

Bill, you state: "There does not seem to be a desire on the part of either side to come together in a reasonable, rational, tont, understanding way.
You used emotionally charged language to describe people throughout this post here. I'm not sure if you're trying to trigger people into a debate or offering your personal opinion what's happening in Minnesota and throughout America.
You're entitled to your opinion, no doubt about it. But your comments are not "right from the middle," looking for common ground.
Try not baiting people, Bill. Just say what you mean and mean what you say.
