Courageous Thought - Ray Hanania

My gut tells me something is terribly wrong with our world today

President Trump is profiting from wars, breaking his promises and Americans are so confused about the truth they just don't care. It's easier to hate than it is to be moral. Greed drives our nation

You can’t trust the major media these days to give you the facts. Instead, all we get is political spin and entertainment, usually driven by a pinch of hate.

When I read major news stories or watch them on television, my gut tells me something is wrong. That we’re not getting the truth. That someone is lying and usually the reason is profit and greed.

It’s not ironic that concerns about profit and greed come up at this time, as we are celebrating the Easter holidays.

I am a Christian, and it means a lot to me. My heritage didn’t allow me to trade in my religious beliefs for greed.

My parents are from the Holy Land, where Christianity was born. My dad’s family is from Jerusalem. Originally Jewish, they converted decades ago to Christianity. My mother is from Bethlehem and was closely tied to the Church of the Nativity, where Jesus was born.

As Christians, we learn about sin. We debate which is the ultimate sin. Is it blasphemy, where we betray our beliefs? Is it pride where we place our selfishness above all else? Is it infidelity, where we covet what others have?

Is it violence where we take another’s life?

I believe the origin of sin is greed.
