Cook County Commissioner Sean Morrison is a disgrace and should step down from all his public posts. So too should County assessor Fritz Kaegi who is being challenged by Lyons Assessor Patrick Hynes

Voters cleaned house in the far Southwest Suburbs when they booted fanatic Orland Park Mayor Keith Pekau out of office in a landslide defeat that should send signals to all his cohorts.
Still in shell shock after seeing Pekau literally thrown out of office, many of those minions are doomed.
One of Pekau’s most controversial lackeys in Sean Morrison, whose failed leadership of the Cook County Republicans helped seal Pekau’s embarrassing fate.
Trying to head off the political guillotine, Morrison, after the decisive April 1 GOP disaster, announced that he would step down as Cook County Republican Party Chairman.
As far as most politicians were concerned, Morrison had already stepped down based on his lack of leadership and lapdog subservience to Pekau and those of Pekau’s slimy ilk.

But Morrison is hoping to hang on to his Cook County Board seat. Actually, I shouldn’t call it a “seat.” At Board meetings, Morrison sleeps with his eyes open, so maybe it’s better referred to as a Cook County Board “Cot.”
Morrison should resign from his other “cot” as Palos Township GOP Committeeman.
If I lived in Palos Township, as a taxpayer, I would be embarrassed by his lack of performance and his empty speeches, and shallow attempts at legislation.
Morrison is responsible for the continued decay of the Republican Organization in Cook County. He is inspirational-less, lacks creativity, and is only focused on himself.
And, when it comes to political relationships, Sean Morrison is an ingrate who won’t hesitate to stab you in the back for a cheap headline or to pursue what he thinks is political advancement. Like when he backstabbed Liz Gorman, his predecessor, who gave him his political start, just so that he could have what he thought would be the influential backing of newly elected mayor Keith Pekau.
As it turns out, Pekau is a disgrace not only as an elected official but also as a Republican. He did little for the Republican Party and far less than what he tried to do for himself.
It’s ironic that the Chicago suburbs were built by disenfranchised conservative and Republican voters who fled Chicago’s rising crime and liberal policies that make it easier to collect money on the taxpayer dole. Chicago turned its back on prosecuting criminals, unless they happen to be courageous Police Officers who were doing their jobs, a trend that has shifted through the county.
Today, the Cook County Republican Party is decimated. Sleepy Morrison is the only GOP County Board member.
If you want to look at how Morrison can mishandle even the most obvious controversies, visit my web page at TheMediaOasis.com and click the link to read the file on his former Security Company manager, Anthony Martin, who was convicted of sexually harassing young teenage girls.
Morrison will be replaced as Cook County GOP Chairman by Republican Aaron Del Mar. He would be better suited to help re-strengthen the Illinois Republican Party, which is chaired by the very skilled Illinois GOP Chair Kathy Salvi.

Just when you need someone to stand up to even worse incompetence, like by Gov. J.B. Pritzker, the Cook County GOP soapbox has been silent.
PATRICK HYNES TO CHALLENGE ASSESSOR FRITZ KAEGI
Lyons Township Assessor Patrick Hynes made it official on Thursday at a rally hosted by the powerful Lyons Township Democratic Organization that he is running for Cook County Assessor in the 2026 Democratic Primary.
Hynes used to work at the County Assessor’s office but fled Kaegi’s growing incompetence.

Kaegi shifted the assessment burden from county Businesses to county Homeowners, resulting in the largest property tax increases Cook County Property owners have ever seen over the past few years.
Kaegi’s only answer to his destructive property tax incompetence is PR spin.
He denies responsibility, hiding behind Cook County’s complicated tax system. He challenges claims that he drove up property taxes, something that none of the county’s Township Assessors believe. Kaegi plays a political shell game, blaming the problem on the County Property Tax Appeals Board.
In many cases, property taxes jumped after the assessment changes by more than 50 percent and in many cases by as much as 125 percent.

Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas, one of the most honest elected officials in Illinois, released data in 2023 showing property tax increases jumping more than 20 percent.
Kaegi has got to go, and Hynes is the candidate to correct Kaegi’s screw-ups.
“Sometimes when I advocate for the taxpayers, I run into a little bit of an obstacle. That obstacle has a name, Fritz Kaegi. I cannot handle four more years of Fritz Kaegi and nor can the taxpayers. I have a list as long as your arm of aggrieved taxpayers who are owed thousands of dollars, and the only thing standing in their way is an incompetent assessor. It's time we get rid of that incompetent assessor,” Hynes announced at the Lyons Township event.
“I promise to work as hard as always to bring the dedication in my job that I already bring to the Lyons Township Assessor's office and to straighten out a county office that has been completely screwed up by someone who wasn't ready to sit in the seat that he's currently sitting.”
Hynes was elected Lyons assessor in 2021 following a lengthy career in the County Assessor's office and extensive experience in property tax administration.

Hynes’ claims against Kaegi have the backing of most, if not all, of the Township Assessors in Cook County, including Cicero’s competent Assessor Emilio “Emo” Cundari.
