Politicians skewered agendas has weakened the criminal justice system in Cook County to boost their own popularity at the expense of law abiding citizens. In some cases that expense has been death

Every month, we hear a story about how a police officer tried to stop someone possessing and wielding a gun. The officer ends up shooting the suspect because the suspect refused to do what they were told — mainly because suspects who draw on police or try to escape know they were violating laws possessing weapons or are involved in other crimes.
They will take their chances and run rather than follow police instructions or be apprehended.
What you don't often hear about, though, are about violent criminals who have been released by a Cook County judge on low or no bail, or where the Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx has refused to press charges, who then go out and kill or injure a law-abiding citizen.
Instead of holding the officials responsible for the subsequent “out-on-bail” felony killers, the police are blamed, critics are called racist, and the attention is directed elsewhere.

The misguided policy was aggravated by a Chicago politician who became a judge who believed he could help reduce the burden on people charged with violent crimes offering them "affordable bond." The consequences have been horrible.
